The Seventh Annual Portage Winter Blast Half Marathon, 10k and 5k, is presented in partnership with Komen Michigan, Kalamazoo Area Runners (KAR), and the City of Portage. The races will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019 with the expo, late registration and packet pickup on Saturday, February 23. Join us in this extraordinary community celebration of health and wellness. Proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen Michigan whose bold goal is to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. by 2026.
The half marathon, 10k and 5k courses highlight the Portage Trail Way System and include a mix of mostly flat paved bike trail and roads. The half marathon and 5k courses are USAT&F certified.
With an exciting new location – all running events start and end at Loy Norrix High School, 606 E Kilgore Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49001 on Sunday, February 24, 2019. Events will begin at 8:00 a.m. with the half marathon. The 5k will begin at 8:10 followed by the 10k at 8:20. The half marathon will close registration once it attains its cap of 1,500 participants. Cutoff time to be included in half marathon results is 3 hours, 45 minutes. Roads will be re-opened at 12:00 noon.
Awards to first place male and female overall open, masters, grand masters, senior masters and five year age division awards three deep in all three events. Finisher medals to all half marathoners finishing within the time limit and participation medals to the remaining half marathoners and all 10k and 5k participants!
